Global Coalition’s Mission Against ISIS Officially Concludes in Iraq


Baghdad:Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi announced the official conclusion of the Global Coalition’s mission to combat ISIS remnants in Iraq.



According to the Iraqi News Agency, the announcement was made during an official ceremony in Baghdad on Sovereignty Day, September 30, 2026. The event was attended by the Coalition Forces Commander and various military and security leaders.



In his remarks, Al-Zaidi highlighted the sacrifices and efforts that led to Iraq’s current security status, emphasizing the cooperation among friendly forces that resulted in the victory over ISIS. He noted that September 30, 2026, symbolizes the defense of Iraqi land against terrorist threats.



Al-Zaidi expressed gratitude to the countries involved in the Global Coalition, acknowledging their support in reorganizing and rearming Iraq’s Armed Forces. He stressed that, although the Coalition’s mission has concluded, Iraq will now assume full responsibility for its security and stability.



The Prime Minister mentioned the transition of joint operations responsibilities to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, marking a new phase of Iraqi sovereignty and institutional strength. He emphasized continued security cooperation with international partners, focusing on technology and digital capabilities to enhance security.



Al-Zaidi concluded by affirming that all military actions would remain under state institutions, in line with constitutional guidelines and the will of the Iraqi people.
