Babylon Movement Emphasizes State Control of Weapons on Sovereignty Day


Baghdad:The Babylon Movement reiterated the importance of placing weapons exclusively under state control, highlighting this as a national and constitutional principle.



According to Iraqi News Agency, the movement stated that Iraq’s sovereignty is fundamental to its dignity and independence in decision-making. They emphasized that Iraq is not just a land but a homeland, a trust, and a history.



The statement further outlined that a strong state is characterized by uniting its people under the rule of law, ensuring their security and freedoms, and safeguarding its borders and national decisions. The movement insisted that state control over weapons is a principle applicable across all Iraqi provinces, with no exceptions or double standards.



The Babylon Movement expressed support for the government and state institutions, commending the security and military forces for their sacrifices, which underline that protecting Iraq is a collective national duty. The movement also called for an Iraq that respects its own sovereignty and that of other nations, is not a battleground for external conflicts, and bases its foreign relations on national interests and mutual respect.
