Qubad Talabani Hails Withdrawal of Coalition Forces from Iraq as Historic Moment


Baghdad:Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Qubad Talabani, described the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq and the return of full security responsibility to Iraqi authorities as a significant historical event for both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Talabani expressed his gratitude for the support that the international coalition provided to the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army in their fight against terrorism. He acknowledged the coalition’s role in helping to protect Iraq’s security and stability.



Talabani paid tribute to the members of the Peshmerga, the Iraqi army, and coalition forces who lost their lives during the conflict, saluting their sacrifices. He also emphasized that the Kurdistan Region would not forget the coalition’s assistance during three crucial phases: the declaration of the no-fly zone in 1991, the overthrow of the Ba’athist dictatorship in 2003, and the war against ISIS after 2014.



He remarked that the coalition’s withdrawal and the transfer of full security responsibility to Iraq mark a major historical juncture for the country and the Kurdistan Region, impacting both federal and regional governments and all Iraqi political forces. Talabani stressed the need for Iraq to demonstrate its ability to protect the country‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¾¢s sovereignty, security, and stability through cooperation and adherence to the Constitution.
