Baghdad:Speaker of Parliament Haibat Al-Halbousi emphasized that state sovereignty and the rule of law are essential for building a strong and stable Iraq.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Halbousi extended his congratulations to the people of Iraq on National Sovereignty Day. He highlighted the significance of the state’s sovereignty, which he described as an established right and a responsibility upheld by all state institutions and national forces.
Al-Halbousi reiterated that Iraq is a sovereign nation whose decisions are guided by its people’s will. He stated that only the rule of law should prevail and that Iraq will not be used as a battleground or a passage for aggression. He also asserted that protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is non-negotiable, and essential for the country’s strength and respect for its constitution.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by Iraqis for an independent homeland and stressed the need to build a state that respects citizens’ dignity, protects borders, and engages in international relations based on mutual respect and national interest.
Al-Halbousi expressed appreciation for the support of friendly nations during the war against terrorism, noting that the end of the International Coalition’s mission transitions Iraq into a new phase of coordinated relations. He affirmed the commitment to legal frameworks and state authority to ensure Iraq’s security and stability.
He concluded with hopes for enduring security, dignity, and sovereignty for Iraq and its people.
