Baghdad:According to the National Iraqi News Agency, Mohammed al-Halbousi, leader of the Taqaddum (Progress) Party, has emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to ensure that weapons remain under state control to achieve full sovereignty.
In a statement made during Sovereignty Day celebrations, al-Halbousi congratulated the Iraqi people on reaching this national milestone. He praised the government and state institutions for their roles in enhancing security and stability, as well as the international coalition forces for their support in combating terrorism.
Al-Halbousi highlighted the necessity of focusing on restricting weapons to state control to monopolize decisions of war and peace. He stressed that strengthening the authority of constitutional institutions is crucial to maintaining Iraq’s security, stability, and independent decision-making.
He expressed hope that this occasion would mark the beginning of a new phase where stability is consolidated and Iraq can continue to act in accordance with its interests, sovereignty, and independent decision-making.
