Erbil:Leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, assured the people of Kurdistan that the region is well-prepared to counter any threats following the end of the International Coalition forces’ mission. He highlighted “excellent coordination” with the Iraqi federal government to address potential risks.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani delivered this message on Wednesday as the Coalition forces concluded their mission in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He expressed gratitude to the Coalition for their support and sacrifices in combating ISIS.
Barzani emphasized that maintaining future stability is now the responsibility of the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region, facilitated by agreements with Coalition nations. He cautioned any party considering threats to Kurdistan’s stability, asserting that the region has the necessary Peshmerga forces ready to defend against any aggression.
He further stated that the Peshmerga forces, in close coordination with Iraqi federal forces, are fully prepared to safeguard the country and avert all threats. The US-led international coalition’s mission, which lasted 12 years, officially concludes today after Iraq’s declaration of ISIS defeat in 2017.
