Accra:Huawei Telecommunications Company Vice President and Board Member Rafid Abbas Al-Khafaji confirmed that the company is collaborating with over 240 Iraqi companies on projects spanning various sectors.
According to Iraqi News Agency, this year marks Huawei’s first participation in the Iraq International Exhibition for Information and Communications Technology. Al-Khafaji expressed surprise at the scale of participation from Arab, foreign, and Iraqi companies, as well as the high level of organization of the exhibition.
Al-Khafaji highlighted Huawei’s engagement in multiple sectors, including oil, telecommunications, transport, healthcare, artificial intelligence, and data centers. Despite the challenges Iraq has faced, Huawei has been operational in the country since 2003. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Huawei’s team continued collaborating with various Iraqi ministries.
Huawei’s operations in Iraq include more than 240 local companies with four offices situated in Baghdad, Basra, Erbil, and Sulay
maniyah, employing over 10,000 people. Al-Khafaji addressed the misconception that Huawei focuses solely on mobile phones, explaining that the company also engages with several Iraqi state ministries and has projects like the integrated camera-based security system in Babil Governorate.
Additionally, Huawei’s operations extend to smart electric vehicles, cloud computing, and data centers. Although the mobile phone sector is the smallest in terms of business volume, it remains a significant revenue generator.
Through its participation in the exhibition, Huawei aims to demonstrate its technological solutions and foster new collaborations with Iraqi companies and institutions across diverse sectors.
