Finance Minister Launches Electronic Tax System for Major Taxpayers

Accra:Finance Minister Falih Sari announced the launch of the first electronic tax assessment system for major taxpayers during a visit to the General Commission for Taxes. The event, attended by several directors-general from the Ministry of Finance, marks a significant step toward automation and digital transformation in tax operations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the system’s implementation aligns with the government’s goals and the Ministry of Finance’s efforts to modernize financial administration and simplify procedures. This initiative aims to improve the efficiency of tax operations and streamline the process for taxpayers.

The new system allows taxpayers to complete assessments and make payments electronically, eliminating the need to visit the Commission’s headquarters. Minister Sari praised the Ministry’s staff for their efforts in achieving this milestone, emphasizing that the launch signifies a move from paper-based to digital tax administration. This electronic system is the first phase of a broader digital transformation project, initially focusing on large taxpayers with plans to expand to other segments.

During his visit, Minister Sari also inspected the Large Taxpayers Department, reviewing the workflow and mechanisms for implementing the new electronic system.
