Federal Revenues Allocation Commission Ensures Strict Oversight of Iraqi Treasury

Accra:The General Commission for Federal Revenues Allocation has outlined its stringent procedures for monitoring all financial transactions involving the Iraqi treasury. Every dinar entering or leaving is closely scrutinized to prevent corruption.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Suzan Abdullah, head of the Commission, emphasized its role as an independent body that acts as an early-warning mechanism against corruption. The Commission monitors allocations and oversees funding from the Ministry of Finance to various ministries and governorates, ensuring the funds are used optimally.

Abdullah explained that the Commission verifies the sources of all federal revenues and funds Iraq receives from any entity. She highlighted that numerous corruption cases have been identified and forwarded to the Integrity Commission, the judiciary, and the Federal Board of Supreme Audit.

She further clarified that the Commission operates without overlapping responsibilities with the Federal Board of Supreme Audit, maintaining a relationship of ‘institutional integration.’ Each entity has its own distinct areas of work, allowing the Commission ample scope to perform its duties.

Abdullah concluded by stating that the Commission is unique in Iraq for overseeing fund allocation before disbursement and tracking their usage thereafter.
