Baghdad to Launch Tree-Planting Campaign to Green the Capital

Baghdad:The autumn tree-planting season is set to commence in the capital on Sunday, with an ambitious target of planting 190,000 perennial trees across various areas. The initiative is spearheaded by the Baghdad Municipality, which has called on citizens and organizations to join the effort.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Oday Al-Jandil, a spokesperson for the Baghdad Municipality, confirmed the launch of the campaign and detailed plans for the tree-planting process. Municipal departments have been tasked with setting up the necessary infrastructure, including sprinkler and drip irrigation systems, to support the growth and sustainability of the newly planted trees.

The campaign, which will span two and a half months, involves the preparation of designated planting sites by municipal departments. Al-Jandil has urged not only citizens but also civil society organizations, media professionals, and government institutions to collaborate with the municipality, ensuring the success of this extensive environmental effort.
