Iraq Reaffirms Commitment to Balanced Foreign Policy on National Day


Accra:The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commemorated Iraq’s National Day, observed annually on October 3rd, by reaffirming its dedication to a balanced foreign policy, emphasizing respect for state sovereignty, and enhancing international relations.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry highlighted that Iraq’s National Day marks a significant historical milestone in the country’s journey toward independence, referencing its accession to the League of Nations in 1932 and establishment as an independent state and active member of the international community.



The statement from the Ministry paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Iraqi people, acknowledging their efforts in defending the homeland and maintaining its unity and sovereignty. It emphasized that Iraq’s national diversity is a source of strength, and the unity and cohesion of its people are vital to state-building and enhancing the country’s status.



The Ministry reiterated Iraq’s commitment to a foreign policy grounded in respect for state sovereignty, fostering friendly relations, supporting dialogue and understanding, and promoting security and stability on regional and international levels. This policy aims to protect national interests and enhance Iraq’s role in Arab, regional, and international affairs.



Iraq remains committed to consolidating its sovereignty, supporting development and reconstruction, and strengthening international partnerships to fulfill the aspirations of its people for a secure, stable, and prosperous nation.
