Baghdad:The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) has announced that the new exchange rates for the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar have come into effect starting today.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the CBI’s decision to adjust the exchange rates is based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. This move aims to meet the financial requirements of the state’s general budget and is in accordance with the provisions of the Central Bank of Iraq Law No. 56 of 2004, as amended.
The new rates set the US dollar purchase price from the Ministry of Finance at 1,500 dinars per dollar, the selling price to banks at 1,510 dinars per dollar, and the selling rate to the public at 1,520 dinars per dollar.
The Central Bank has confirmed that its foreign reserves are adequate to fulfill all demands for foreign currency, which includes financing foreign trade, settling bank card transactions abroad, and providing cash sales to travelers. The changes became effective on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
