Baghdad:The Central Bank of Iraq has announced a new adjustment to the exchange rate of the US dollar, setting the public sale price at 1,520 dinars per dollar. This decision follows a recommendation from the Central Bank and was approved by the Council of Ministers.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Central Bank issued a letter directed to all licensed banks, electronic payment companies, and exchange bureaus, detailing the new exchange rates. The decision was made during the Council of Ministers’ twenty-second session on October 6, 2026, aiming to address financial, economic, and monetary requirements.
The revised exchange rates include a purchase price of 1,500 dinars per dollar from the Ministry of Finance, a sale price of 1,510 dinars per dollar to banks, and a sale price of 1,520 dinars per dollar to the public. All financial institutions must implement these new rates in their transactions, update banking systems, and instruct branches to comply with the changes.
The new exchange rate is effective from the start of the business day on October 7, 2026, and the previous rate is to be discontinued.
