CBI Sets New Dollar Exchange Rate at 1,520 Dinars

Baghdad:The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) has announced a new exchange rate for the US dollar, setting the selling price at 1,520 dinars. This decision follows a Cabinet resolution made during its 22nd session on October 6, 2026, aimed at adjusting the dinar’s exchange rate against the dollar to align with financial, economic, and monetary goals.

According to Iraqi News Agency, The CBI document outlines that, under the provisions of the Central Bank of Iraq Law No. 56 of 2004 (as amended), the exchange rates are set as follows: the purchase price from the Ministry of Finance is 1,500 dinars per dollar, the selling rate to banks is 1,510 dinars per dollar, and the selling price to the public is 1,520 dinars per dollar.

All financial institutions are required to adopt these new rates in their transactions. They must update their banking and financial systems and ensure service delivery channels are in alignment. The previous exchange rate is to be discontinued, and the new rates will take effect from the beginning of the business day.
