Muqtada al-Sadr Rejects Iraq as Arena for U.S. Conflicts


Baghdad:Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist Movement, has addressed an open letter to the United States, urging Washington to engage positively with Iraq and rejecting any attempts to involve the country in U.S. political and economic conflicts.



According to the National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sadr emphasized in his message that Iraq’s independence is paramount, stating that while there is no hostility toward any nation, Iraqis will resist any occupation. He conveyed that their resistance was fueled by patriotism rather than a desire for material gain or enmity.



He further articulated that if the U.S. wishes to move forward, it should do so with justice and fairness, avoiding arrogance. Al-Sadr stressed that Iraq seeks to build its future freely and independently, without foreign interference or corruption.



In conclusion, al-Sadr firmly rejected the notion of Iraq being used as a battleground for external disputes, emphasizing that Iraq is not obligated to defend or fight for other nations.
