Baghdad:The parliamentary bloc of the Islamic Dawa Party has raised concerns over the instability and fluctuation of the Iraqi dinar’s exchange rate against the US dollar, highlighting its negative repercussions such as rising commodity prices and declining purchasing power, which could affect the country’s political and social stability.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, MP Ahmed Al-Mubarqa from the Islamic Dawa Party emphasized the urgent need for authorities to address this “mad rise” in exchange rates. He urged for immediate solutions to prevent further economic fallout and warned against measures that would burden citizens, impacting their ability to meet basic needs.
Al-Mubarqa also underscored the importance of tackling the root causes of the crisis by enhancing national production, reducing waste and corruption, regulating imports, and tightening market oversight. Additionally, he appealed to traders and businessmen to consider the hardships faced by citizens, urging them to avoid greedy and monopolistic practices during these challenging times.
