Washington:An updated report by the US Congressional Research Service reveals that at least 81 US aircraft, helicopters, and drones have been lost or damaged during military operations against Iran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Congressional Budget Office has estimated the cost of replacing this lost or damaged equipment to be between $1.9 billion and $3.3 billion, contingent on the options chosen by the US Department of Defense.
The latest figures estimate the total cost of US military operations against Iran at approximately $43.6 billion as of September 3, 2026. This total includes $11.2 billion in operational expenses and $32.4 billion for the replacement of munitions, aircraft, and damaged equipment, based on data from the Department of Defense provided to congressional oversight committees.
Previous estimates indicated that the cost of operations was approximately $33.4 billion as of June 29 and around $38 billion as of August 1, with variations due to the calculation date and the specific costs included.
