Kirkuk:Arshad al-Salihi, a member of parliament representing the Kirkuk Governorate, has called for immediate military reinforcements to combat the resurgence of ISIS cells in the region. He appealed to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to deploy additional forces and enhance security operations on the outskirts of Kirkuk.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Salihi highlighted the increasing activities of dormant ISIS cells in these areas, which, combined with the current sensitive phase Iraq is experiencing, particularly after the withdrawal of international coalition forces, require decisive security measures to maintain stability.
Despite expressing confidence in the existing security and military forces, al-Salihi urged the necessity of additional reinforcements. He emphasized the importance of not allowing remnants of terrorist groups to endanger Iraq’s security and stability or to rekindle the violence that previously afflicted Kirkuk and other regions.
