Accra:Defense Minister Nayef Mukif al-Shammari has emphasized the importance of preserving Iraq’s sovereignty, protecting its security, and maintaining the readiness of its armed forces as fundamental, non-negotiable principles.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Shammari stated that the responsibility entrusted to him by the people’s representatives is a national duty that must be demonstrated through actions rather than words. He expressed gratitude to the members of Parliament for their confidence, reiterating the commitment to key principles.

The Defense Minister highlighted the need to work professionally and resolutely in the face of current challenges, adhering to the Constitution and government programs, with the nation’s interest prioritized above all else. Al-Shammari concluded by affirming that Iraq’s sovereignty is a covenant, and serving its people is a responsibility to be fulfilled through deeds.
