Accra:Al-Nuaman The Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, is actively working to elevate the technical proficiency of the security forces and enhance their operational capabilities. This announcement was made by Sabah Al-Nuaman, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Nuaman highlighted that the withdrawal of the International Coalition forces was based on a comprehensive study and analysis by military leaders. He emphasized that the security forces are now taking the initiative, with ISIS no longer posing a significant threat. He also noted the reliance on the 2027 budget to meet technical needs.
Al-Nuaman reiterated the focus on improving technical standards and strengthening capabilities, particularly within the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS), which is advancing in cybersecurity. The Commander-in-Chief has committed to equipping the CTS with aerial resources.
He explained that while the International Coalition previously provided air support, the security forces and Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) were responsible for ground operations against ISIS. Although Operation Inherent Resolve has concluded in Iraq, it continues in Syria, with recent airstrikes against terrorism being led by Iraqi forces.
Modern warfare’s dependence on drones and advanced technology was stressed, alongside a strategic plan to upgrade air defense systems. An initiative is underway to produce drones domestically with specialized companies, and the Commander-in-Chief has urged a quicker timeline for modernization.
Al-Nuaman refuted claims of an ‘Israeli’ base in Karbala’s desert, confirming it was a force of the International Coalition. He stated that the explosion at the PMF headquarters was not due to an external attack, with investigation results nearing completion.
He assured that Iraq’s borders with Syria are fortified with advanced technology, ensuring they are completely secure, and affirmed the security services’ capability to protect Iraq’s national security.
