Accra:The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has strongly condemned missile and drone attacks by Iran against GCC member states and Jordan, as well as Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia. The Council has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the ongoing crisis.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the GCC Ministerial Council held Iran fully responsible for the attacks during its 168th session in Bahrain. The attacks, which targeted civilian facilities, service infrastructure, residential areas, and diplomatic missions, resulted in material damage and posed a threat to the safety of citizens and residents.
The Council demanded that Iran immediately and unconditionally stop all attacks, provocations, and threats, urging compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026). It called on the UN Security Council and the international community to enforce the resolution, hold those responsible accountable, and require Tehran to provide reparations for the damages incurred.
In relation to the situation in Yemen, the GCC reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia, backing measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its sovereignty, security, and interests. The Council emphasized the indivisibility of GCC security, stating that any aggression against one member state is an aggression against all.
