Iraq’s Security Preparedness After Coalition Mission Ends

Accra:Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, stated that Iraq is facing a security challenge following the conclusion of the International Coalition’s mission. This situation necessitates complete readiness to address any potential threats.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Hakim discussed the recent political, economic, and security developments with a delegation from the International Crisis Group. He described the end of the International Coalition’s mission, achieved through dialogue and mutual understanding, as a sign of Iraq’s recovery and international recognition of its progress.

Al-Hakim emphasized the importance of maintaining national unity and rejecting any racist or sectarian rhetoric. He highlighted the need for full preparedness to prevent terrorism from re-emerging and stressed the importance of addressing the issue of weapons held outside the state’s authority, in line with agreed timelines.

On the economic front, Al-Hakim noted that regional events have impacted Iraq’s oil production and exports. He advocated for a diversified economy, moving away from a rentier model, and expanding oil export routes through pipelines to the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. He also suggested targeting new markets and consumers for Iraqi oil to strengthen economic partnerships.
