France Enforces Curfews in Paris and Northern Cities After Protests

Paris:French authorities have implemented a curfew starting Monday, October 19, in various parts of Paris, focusing on areas around Place de la République and the Les Halles district. The curfew also extends to the northern cities of Lille, Douai, Wattignies, and Denain.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the measures come in response to a weekend of protests across France that involved violence and looting.

In addition to the curfew, demonstrations in certain districts of Paris will be prohibited from 8 p.m. onward. The unrest has been driven by concerns over rising living costs, resource shortages in education, and deteriorating public services.

The Yellow Vests coordination group has announced plans for another day of demonstrations slated for Saturday, October 24, as they await a government response to their demands. The recent protests on October 17 and 18 attracted large crowds, including former Yellow Vest movement activists, secondary and university students, climate activists, and farmers.
