A Delegation From The KDP Arrives In Baghdad To Finalize Parliamentary Nominations


Baghdad: A delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) arrived in Baghdad and is expected to hold a meeting at 11:00 AM with the party’s parliamentary bloc to finalize the official nominations for the parliamentary positions allocated to it.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting aims to confirm the party’s candidates for the positions of Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Head of the party’s parliamentary bloc.



The delegation is led by Amina Zakri, a member of the party’s Political Bureau, and Arafat Karam. Sources indicated that Shakhwan Abdullah will be officially nominated for the position of Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, while Farhad Atrushi will be named the new Head of the KDP’s parliamentary bloc.



The Council of Representatives is scheduled to hold its first session of its sixth term today, Monday. Its agenda includes two main items: the swearing-in of the new members and the election of the Presidency of the Council of Representatives, consisting of a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.
