Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Hebat al-Halbousi announced on Saturday the withdrawal of Abdul Latif Rashid from the presidential race. The Parliament's Media Office stated in a brief statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Parliament Speaker Hebat al-Halbousi announced the withdrawal of Abdul Latif Mohammed Jamal from the list of candidates."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement further clarified that with Abdul Latif Mohammed Jamal's withdrawal from the list, the number of candidates for the presidency is now 16.
