Nasiriyah: The Accountability and Justice Commission has announced the arrest of several senior Ba’ath Party leaders in Dhi Qar Governorate. This significant operation was carried out by the Popular Mobilization Forces Intelligence in collaboration with the Dhi Qar Police Command.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission described the operation as the largest of its kind in recent years within the city of Nasiriyah. The arrests followed extensive monitoring of individuals who were allegedly attempting to revive the banned Ba’ath Party’s activities in secret.
The Commission emphasized that this operation highlights the ongoing commitment of security services to eliminate any remnants of the Baathist ideology. It also serves as a reminder of the government’s dedication to holding accountable those involved in, or attempting to reinstate, the oppressive practices experienced under the former Baathist regime.
