Interior Ministry Announces Handover of Murder Suspect from Iran


Baghdad: The Iraqi Ministry of Interior has announced the successful extradition of a suspect wanted for the murder of a currency exchange owner in Babil Governorate. The suspect was received from the Islamic Republic of Iran, following coordination with Interpol.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the handover occurred under the direct supervision of Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari. The ministry detailed that after committing the crime, the suspect fled to Iran. Intensive coordination with the Iranian authorities led to the suspect’s arrest and subsequent handover to Iraqi officials.



The ministry acknowledged the cooperation of the Iranian police and highlighted the critical role played by Iraqi Interpol in facilitating the suspect’s capture. The ministry reiterated its ongoing commitment to tracking down fugitives from justice within and beyond Iraq’s borders.
