Baghdad: Haider al-Abadi, head of the Victory Coalition, engaged in discussions with a delegation from the al-Nujaba Movement, led by Sheikh Ali al-Asadi, focusing on the political and security developments in Iraq. The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining dialogue and communication among national forces to address the country’s challenges.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Abadi highlighted that the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Law, enacted during his administration, was designed to formalize the status of fighters who played a crucial role in defending Iraq and combating terrorism. He emphasized that these fighters’ sacrifices are integral to Iraq’s history in the fight against ISIS.

Al-Abadi further stressed the need for strengthening the state’s structure and ensuring that the status of fighters and related institutions align with constitutional and legal frameworks. This approach aims to safeguard their rights and enhance unified decision-making and security policies.

He concluded by stating that dialogue and mutual understanding are essential tools for resolving issues in a manner that serves Iraq’s interests and upholds its security and sovereignty.
