Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi met on Monday with the US Charg© d’Affaires in Baghdad, Joshua Harris, to discuss the latest developments in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisory stated in a press release that the meeting also focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the United States, especially in the fields of counterterrorism and the exchange of information and expertise. Al-Aboudi emphasized to the US Charg© d’Affaires that the Iraqi government is committed to advancing its plans for consolidating security and stability, contributing to regional de-escalation, and organizing efforts to restrict weapons to the state.

Al-Aboudi highlighted Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zubaidi’s efforts to establish national institutions capable of making independent sovereign decisions, aiming to initiate a comprehensive development process and build a robust economy. This is intended to achieve the objectives set forth by the Iraqi government.

In response, the US Charg© d’Affaires reaffirmed the United States’ support for the Iraqi government and its initiatives to bolster national sovereignty and enhance security and stability in both Iraq and the broader region.
