Baghdad: Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, emphasized on Monday that the matter of limiting weapons to state control is inherently an Iraqi decision, both in terms of timing and the mechanisms employed.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim’s media office released a statement following his meeting with a delegation from the political and executive offices of the al-Nujaba Movement. The meeting included an exchange of greetings on the Prophet’s birthday and discussions regarding the political developments in Iraq and the broader region, along with the impacts of the ongoing war on Iraq’s economy.

Al-Hakim highlighted the significant economic challenges facing Iraq, particularly due to the decline in oil exports and revenues. He urged the Iraqi state to seize this moment to focus on economic diversification, attract investments, and broaden export channels.

He further elaborated that the approach to restricting weapons to state control should be decided through internal dialogue and understanding, considering the weapons used by factions in combating terrorism and honoring the sacrifices made by thousands of martyrs in the fight for the country’s liberation and restoration.

Al-Hakim concluded by advocating for the recognition of the efforts of the mujahideen and the commemoration of their heroic deeds.
