Baghdad: Badr Organization Secretary-General Hadi al-Amiri hosted several tribal sheikhs from across Iraq in his Baghdad office, discussing crucial national issues and the role of tribes in fostering national unity and addressing societal concerns.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting emphasized the importance of tribal contributions to Iraq’s history and their ongoing support for state institutions and the rule of law.

Al-Amiri commended the Iraqi tribes for their patriotic stances and their significant roles at key moments in the country’s history, highlighting their responses to religious authorities and their involvement in major events such as the 1920 Revolution and the defensive jihad fatwa. He acknowledged the tribal councils as social and national institutions that have significantly contributed to serving society and defending Iraq.

Al-Amiri further elaborated on the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), asserting that their existence is essential for Iraq’s stability and security.
He expressed a strong commitment to enacting a law to formally recognize the PMF, noting that he has discussed this with the Prime Minister, who is in favor of passing the legislation.

Addressing the resistance factions, al-Amiri praised their reasonable approach and their role in defending Iraq’s sovereignty against occupation and ISIS terrorist gangs, acknowledging their honorable efforts in safeguarding the country’s security.
