Baghdad: The Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, Hadi al-Amiri, has condemned the recent attack on Iraq’s sovereignty by Saudi forces, supported by American aircraft, targeting the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF). Al-Amiri has called on the Iraqi government to take a decisive stance against this breach.

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Amiri expressed his condemnation in a statement, describing the attack as “heinous and unjustified.” The assault, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of several PMF members, has been labeled an infringement on Iraq’s armed forces and its sovereignty. Al-Amiri urged the government to respond firmly to protect the forces that have been crucial in maintaining security and pursuing ISIS remnants.

Al-Amiri highlighted the surprise and disappointment felt by Iraqis in response to the aggression from a neighboring country, which Iraq has historically regarded with a spirit of brotherhood and cooperation. He referenced past instances where terrorist groups had used the neighboring country’s territory for launching attacks, contributing to instability in Iraq.

The statement also criticized the United States’ involvement, asserting that its role in supporting the aggression places it under legal and moral scrutiny. Al-Amiri suggested that the US should have adhered to its security agreement with Iraq, respecting the country’s sovereignty and fulfilling its obligation to protect it against external threats.

Al-Amiri called for a thorough reassessment of Iraq’s relations and agreements with the United States, particularly the security agreement, in alignment with Iraq’s national interests. He emphasized the need for a unified Iraqi national stance to defend sovereignty and protect lives amid the region’s current pivotal situation.

In his concluding remarks, al-Amiri offered prayers for the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery for the wounded, hoping for Iraq’s protection against its adversaries.
