Al-Araji Clarifies Intent Behind Weapon Regulation in Iraq

Baghdad: Prime Minister’s Advisor Qasim al-Araji has clarified that the policy of restricting weapons to state control is not intended to overlook or disregard the sacrifices made by the Iraqi people.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Araji emphasized that the contributions of Iraq’s citizens in defeating terrorism and defending the nation are both a source of pride and honor. He stated that the regulation of weapons aims to establish a framework that safeguards fighters and their families, securing their legal and social rights under the law and the General Command of the Armed Forces.

Al-Araji further explained that crafting media messages should be done with care to promote reassurance and national unity, rather than conveying threats. He underscored that ensuring the security of citizens and the stability of fighters and their families remains a top government priority.

He also noted that sincere feedback is considered to refine the media message through official channels, thereby preventing any exploitation of fears or distortion of national objectives.
