Al-Araji Denies Setting Deadline for State Control Over Weapons


Prime minister’s security adviser qasim al-araji has denied that a specific timeframe has been set for bringing weapons under the exclusive control of the state:raji has denied that a specific timeframe has been set for bringing weapons under the exclusive control of the state, stressing that reports circulating about a deadline for the committee tasked with the issue are completely inaccurate.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement, Al-Araji said, ‘Reports recently circulated on social media claiming that a timeframe has been set for the work of the Weapons Control Committee are entirely untrue. There is no specific deadline for bringing weapons under state control.’



He added that once the committee formed by the Coordination Framework completes all of its work, under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister, and weapons are fully brought under state control, ‘anyone carrying weapons illegally will be dealt with in accordance with the law, regarded as being outside the law, and subject to strict legal measures and treatment in the same manner as terrorists.’



Al-Araji called for accuracy in reporting and urged the public and media to obtain information from official sources and refrain from circulating rumors.
