Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji affirmed that the Iraqi government is committed to openness with all countries of the world. Al-Araji made this statement during a meeting with a high-level American delegation, which was headed by the Director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, Joseph Kent, and included the presence of the Charg© d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Baghdad, Joshua Harris.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on developing relations between Iraq and the United States to serve and strengthen common interests. Discussions also covered the continuation of joint cooperation and the exchange of expertise and information in the field of counterterrorism. The American delegation praised Iraq’s political acumen in avoiding involvement in international and regional conflicts and its efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

Al-Araji emphasized the strategic relationship with the United States, which he stated serves both countries and enhances their shared interests. He reiterated Iraq’s commitment to openness with all nations in a manner that benefits Iraq’s security and economic interests while fostering cooperation in development.

Additionally, Al-Araji expressed gratitude to countries that have withdrawn their citizens from al-Hol camp, highlighting the success of a recent conference in New York on this issue. He stated that Iraq aims to completely close al-Hol camp to ensure the sustainability of security and stability in the region and the world. The American delegation acknowledged the Iraqi government’s efforts in withdrawing Iraqi families from the camp, rehabilitating them, and reintegrating them into society.
