Baghdad: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Fadel Al-Badrani, has confirmed the Ministry's dedication to preserving Iraq's national heritage and safeguarding historical figures. This commitment was reiterated during a recent meeting with Niran Najm al-Din al-Suhrawardi, granddaughter of former Prime Minister Rashid Ali al-Kilani, at the al-Kilani Palace in Baghdad.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Culture detailed in a press release that the meeting served as a platform for Undersecretary Al-Badrani to emphasize the Ministry's efforts in preserving national heritage. During the meeting, Ms. al-Suhrawardi expressed her appreciation for the Ministry's dedication to restoring the Rashid Ali al-Kilani House and transforming it into a center for cultural heritage protection. She pointed out that these efforts are crucial in safeguarding this historical landmark tied to a key figure in Iraq's history.
The press release further noted that Ms. al-Suhrawardi presented an invaluable family archive containing rare documents, photographs, and newspapers related to her family and to former Prime Minister Rashid Ali al-Kilani. This archive holds significant national and documentary value, prompting the Undersecretary to direct that arrangements be made to officially receive it for inclusion in the May Revolution Museum's holdings upon its reopening in the Dar al-Adab building.
Ms. al-Suhrawardi expressed her willingness to hand over the archive to the Ministry once the museum reopens, underscoring that this action is vital for preserving both family and national heritage for future generations.
