Baghdad: Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National State Forces Alliance, emphasized the necessity of ending the ongoing war and returning to negotiations during a meeting with Clemens Smutner, the European Union Ambassador to Iraq. The discussion, which took place on Wednesday, focused on several bilateral and regional issues, particularly the relations between Iraq and European Union countries, aiming to serve shared interests while maintaining Iraq's sovereignty.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim expressed concern over the potential expansion of the regional conflict, stressing that its effects could extend beyond the immediate geographical area and impact all involved parties. He called upon influential countries within the international system to take responsibility for restoring peace and stability in the region by advocating for an end to the war and a return to negotiations.
In addressing internal matters, al-Hakim urged the swift fulfillment of constitutional requirements, highlighting the urgent need for the election of the President of the Republic and the formation of the next government. He emphasized that these steps are crucial to meeting the aspirations of the Iraqi people and addressing current challenges, particularly those related to the economy.
