Baghdad: The Head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, has highlighted the significance of the Turkmen community, recognized as Iraq’s third largest ethnic group.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Wisdom Movement released a statement following a meeting between Al-Hakim and Muhammad Semaan, the newly appointed head of the Turkmen Front and its Political Bureau. During the meeting, they discussed various political developments in Iraq, with a particular focus on the situation of the Turkmen.

Al-Hakim underscored the necessity of unifying the Turkmen community to ensure their representation aligns with their status, position, and contributions in Iraq. He emphasized the importance of preventing the fragmentation of their electoral voice to strengthen their political influence.

Furthermore, Al-Hakim described Kirkuk as a symbol of Iraq’s rich diversity, where different ethnicities, religions, and sects coexist peacefully. He reiterated his call to preserve and manage this diversity, viewing it as a key asset in Iraq’s engagement with the wider world.

In addition, Al-Hakim expressed the need to maintain and enhance Iraq’s current stability to ensure it becomes a lasting feature of the country’s political landscape.
