Baghdad: Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, commended Pakistan's diplomatic efforts in supporting regional stability and promoting peaceful solutions on Monday.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Speaker's Media Office stated in a statement received by the agency that "Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi received today, Monday, the envoy of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Senator Saleem Mandiwalla." During the meeting, discussions were held on bilateral relations between Iraq and Pakistan, with a focus on enhancing parliamentary cooperation and coordinating positions in international forums regarding issues of mutual interest.
The statement highlighted the Speaker's praise for "Pakistan's role in reaching the Memorandum of Understanding and the de-escalation agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America," acknowledging its efforts in promoting regional stability and peaceful solutions. Additionally, the envoy from Pakistan conveyed the greetings of Yousaf Riza Gilani, the Chairman of the Pakistani Senate, and extended an official invitation for al-Halbousi to visit Islamabad. The invitation underscored Pakistan's intent to further strengthen bilateral parliamentary relations.
