Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi condemned Wednesday's attack targeting security forces positions and called for a thorough investigation. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Halbousi said, "We condemn in the strongest terms the attack that targeted Iraqi security forces positions, which resulted in a number of martyrs and wounded." He emphasized that "this attack constitutes an unacceptable violation of Iraq's sovereignty, an infringement on its security and stability, and an attack on state security institutions that are carrying out their duties to protect and defend the homeland."

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Halbousi stressed that "Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity are a red line that must not be crossed, and that respect for international law and the UN Charter requires refraining from any military actions that violate the sovereignty of states or threaten their security and stability."

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces called for "a comprehensive and transparent investigation into this attack, and for taking all diplomatic and legal measures to preserve Iraq's rights and sovereignty, in parallel with revealing the parties involved in any hostile acts launched from Iraqi territory towards neighboring countries, and holding those responsible accountable in accordance with the provisions of the law, in compliance with what the Iraqi Constitution stipulates regarding not using Iraqi territory as a base or passage for any attack on any country, and not allowing it to be used as a launching pad to harm the security and stability of neighboring countries."
