Baghdad: The Karkh Criminal Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for promoting the Zionist entity on social media platforms. This landmark decision underscores the judicial system’s strict stance against such activities, reflecting the legal framework established to prevent normalization with the Zionist entity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council released a statement detailing the convict’s activities, which included the promotion of Zionist ideas and behaviors on his Facebook page. His actions extended to supporting normalization by sharing photos and video clips. During the investigation, authorities seized books and newspapers in Hebrew from his residence, further cementing the evidence against him.

The sentence was handed down in compliance with Article 7 of the Law Criminalizing Normalization with the Zionist Entity No. 1 of 2022. This law serves as a critical tool in Iraq’s legal arsenal, aimed at curbing any attempts to normalize relations with the Zionist entity through various forms of media and personal expression.
