Abu dhabi: The scholar Al-Khalil Al-Farahidi will participate in the Abu Dhabi Book Fair, which is organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre. The event, held under the theme ‘Let’s Turn the Page and Read the World,’ will take place from September 13 to 18. The theme reflects the fair’s commitment to fostering intellectual and cultural exchange, positioning itself as a global platform for knowledge creators, publishers, and cultural decision-makers worldwide.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this year’s fair will feature exhibitors from 95 countries and a distinguished group of global writers, thinkers, and academics. The program includes approximately 1,500 events in line with the UAE’s declaration of 2026 as the ‘Year of the Family,’ aimed at reinforcing culture’s role in human development, social cohesion, and preparing future generations.
The fair will focus on three main themes: global culture and intercultural dialogue, innovation and shaping the future, and arts and live cultural experiences. The culture of the Balkans is honored at this year’s event, which celebrates Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi as a central figure and selects Miguel de Cervantes’ “Don Quixote” as its book of the year. This choice reflects the fair’s mission to honor intellectual achievements that have historically enriched human consciousness and fostered cultural dialogue.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, stated that the fair embodies Abu Dhabi’s vision of using culture and knowledge as pillars for comprehensive development and a knowledge economy. Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the Center, highlighted that this edition of the fair marks a milestone in a national cultural project, establishing itself as a global platform for knowledge production and intercultural dialogue. The exhibition aligns with the UAE’s vision of culture as a developmental force and the Arabic language as a bridge for knowledge and creativity.
