Baghdad: The Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, expressed his condemnation on Wednesday of the American-Saudi attack on Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) headquarters, while warning of the serious repercussions of the attack. In a post on the (X) platform, which was monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Sheikh Khazali said: ‘With hearts filled with sorrow and pain, we offer our deepest condolences on the martyrdom of a number of members of the Popular Mobilization Forces, asking God Almighty to have mercy on them, grant them paradise, and grant the wounded a speedy recovery.’

According to Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh Khazali emphasized that targeting an Iraqi security force within Iraqi territory is a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. He noted that this act further complicates the security and political landscape, especially during a time when the government is making efforts to consolidate state authority and prevent further escalation. He expressed concern over foreign countries, some of which claim to be allies and others sister nations, attacking Iraqi security forces and killing personnel based on unverified claims. He stressed that such actions, without allowing the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to take necessary legal and security measures, disregard Iraqi sovereignty and national dignity, which is unacceptable to any honorable Iraqi.
