Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi has called for the international community, particularly major powers, to fulfill their legal and humanitarian obligations concerning the ongoing assaults on the Palestinian people.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandalawi’s media office issued a statement detailing a meeting between Al-Mandalawi and Elizabeth Trudeau, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Iraq, which took place at his residence in Baghdad. The discussion focused on the latest political and security developments in Iraq, stressing the importance of bolstering the country’s stability through enhanced bilateral partnerships and cooperation in various sectors to benefit both Iraqi and American citizens.
The statement further revealed that the talks also addressed regional developments, particularly in the Gaza Strip. Al-Mandalawi emphasized the necessity for urgent international intervention to halt violations of international law and the ongoing massacres against unarmed civilians in the region.
Trudeau, representing the US, reiterated her country’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s journey toward political and economic stability. She highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperative efforts to ensure security and stability throughout the region.
