Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Dr. Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani met with Spanish Ambassador to Baghdad, Alicia Ricoperez del Bulgar, to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations and the development of cooperation across multiple sectors between Iraq and Spain.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions highlighted the importance of bolstering economic, trade, and investment ties, as well as the activation of bilateral security agreements aimed at promoting stability and mutual strategic interests. Al-Mashhadani emphasized Iraq’s dedication to fostering collaboration with Spain to serve the shared interests of both nations. He lauded the Spanish government and its citizens for their support of Iraq and their advocacy for Arab issues, notably the Palestinian cause and the ongoing conflicts affecting the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Alicia Recoberez del Bulgari reiterated Spain’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Iraq across various sectors and acknowledged Iraq’s significant regional and international strategic role.
Both parties concurred on the necessity to activate parliamentary friendship committees and foreign relations committees to enhance diplomatic and parliamentary coordination and communication between Iraq and Spain.
