Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani held an expanded meeting with the head and members of the Independent High Electoral Commission, alongside several Sunni bloc leaders, to address preparations for the upcoming electoral process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mashhadani highlighted the necessity of national efforts to ensure election integrity and transparency during the meeting. He stressed the importance of fostering a secure environment and building confidence in democratic institutions.

The Commission provided a comprehensive presentation on the technical and administrative procedures involved, such as updating the voter registry, distributing biometric cards, and securing polling stations. Officials from the Commission pointed out specific challenges in liberated areas and called for increased government support to aid their efforts.

Sunni bloc leaders voiced their complete support for the Commission, advocating for effective measures to prevent manipulation or interference that could impact election results. They also underscored the importance of participation from all components to guarantee fair representation.
