Al-Nu’man Highlights Future Cooperation with International Coalition on Armament

Baghdad:Al-Nu’man: The announcement regarding the conclusion of the International Coalition’s mission marks a day of national sovereignty and serves as a culmination of the sacrifices made by the Iraqi people and security forces, as confirmed by Sabah Al-Nu’man, Spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, Al-Nu’man stated that future partnership with the Coalition would focus on armament and the exchange of intelligence. He noted that the Ministerial Council for National Security held an extraordinary meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Al-Zaidi to review challenges and future outlooks following the end of the Coalition’s mission.

During this meeting, several recommendations were made, including enhancing the readiness of the armed forces, intensifying intelligence operations, targeting remaining Daesh elements, and supporting the Air Force and Counter-Terrorism Service. Al-Nu’man reiterated that the end of the Coalition’s mission symbolizes national sovereignty and honors the sacrifices of Iraqis and security forces.

The partnership with International Coalition countries is expected to evolve into a bilateral model, focusing on training, armament, and intelligence exchange. Al-Nu’man also highlighted a strategic plan by the Air Defense Command, reducing its timeline from six years to three, to advance the sector. A special fund has been set up for arms deals, and the arrival of integrated air defense systems is anticipated soon.

Furthermore, Al-Nu’man mentioned the government’s initiative to consolidate arms under state control, engaging in high-level dialogues with factions under the supervision of the Commander-in-Chief. This effort aims to remove any justification for weapons outside state control, ensuring arms are confined within the constitutional military establishment.
