Baghdad: The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu’man, asserted that the US-Saudi attack on Iraq was unjustified and contravened international norms and principles of good neighborliness. ‘The security decisions and the protection of sovereignty are the exclusive and direct responsibility of the government. The security leaders are working on a plan to prevent attacks and preserve Iraq’s sovereignty,’ al-Nu’man stated, speaking to Al-Iraqiya News TV, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency.

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Nu’man emphasized that this attack would not deter the resolve of Iraqi security forces to continue preserving Iraq’s sovereignty and security, despite facing various attacks. He described the attack as unjustified and unilateral, far removed from international norms and principles of good neighborliness, which hindered governmental efforts to investigate claims of attacks from Iraqi territory. Despite the formation of technical committees and efforts to engage relevant authorities, no evidence has emerged to substantiate these claims.

The spokesperson revealed that a recent National Security Council meeting, chaired by the Commander-in-Chief, received a briefing on the security vision. Subsequently, a directive was issued to prepare a security plan addressing vulnerabilities, redistributing responsibilities, and intensifying intelligence efforts. Security leaders are actively developing and implementing field measures to prevent attacks and safeguard national sovereignty.

Al-Nu’man declared that Iraqi blood is sacred, emphasizing that the plan would be implemented immediately upon completion. He stressed that security decisions and military discourse are centrally managed by the state and its institutions, reflecting the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief’s approach since assuming government responsibility. The government has made progress in restricting weapons to the state, gaining respect and confidence from foreign countries and the regional environment.

He affirmed that the government and security agencies are committed to the timelines for ending the international coalition’s mission and its withdrawal by September 2026. With the coalition’s mission conclusion, any justification for weapons outside state control will disappear, reinforcing Iraq’s exclusive control over its security situation.
