Al-Rasheed Bank Denies Involvement in Ghost Employee Salaries at Ministry of Electricity

Baghdad: Al-Rasheed Bank has firmly denied any involvement in the disbursement of salaries to ghost employees within the Ministry of Electricity. The bank clarified its position as concerns over salary processing have surfaced, distancing itself from any irregularities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the bank issued a statement asserting, “Al-Rasheed Bank denies any involvement in the disbursement of salaries to ghost employees at the Ministry of Electricity,” and emphasized that its role is strictly limited to processing salaries based on official procedures and lists provided by the relevant authorities. The bank highlighted that the Ministry of Electricity is responsible for sending official salary lists to them every month, signed by authorized personnel, and the bank merely processes these salaries following the received data.

The bank further stressed that responsibilities such as monitoring employee attendance, verifying their presence, and ensuring adherence to official working hours lie with the Ministry of Electricity and its departments, not with the bank. Al-Rasheed Bank clarified that these tasks are outside its jurisdiction and do not pertain to its banking functions.

In light of the situation, Al-Rasheed Bank urged media outlets to exercise accuracy and caution when reporting on such matters. They advised relying on official data and sources to avoid linking the bank to issues or procedures beyond its control.
