According to National Iraqi News Agency, the initiative involves close cooperation and coordination with the Unified National Card Directorate at the Ministry of Interior. The Ministry of Justice emphasized that these procedures are being carried out within the prison, facilitated by the relevant staff from the Unified National Card Directorate to ensure a seamless process for issuing the cards in line with established protocols.

The Ministry’s press release highlighted that this initiative is part of an ongoing institutional collaboration between the Ministries of Justice and Interior. The objective is to enhance coordination with correctional facilities, thereby supporting the implementation of legal and humanitarian standards. This cooperation aims to uphold the rights of inmates by ensuring they have access to their official documents, which is crucial for maintaining their legal and personal identities.
